Your First Match with PassTracker

A match in PassTracker runs on the court board: the six on the floor, each with their own buttons, and a score that moves as you tap. This is the whole first match, from the lineup sheet to the timeout read, in the order you will meet it.

1. Make the match

Tap + on the session row, choose Match, and type the opponent's name. Pick the match format (best of 3 or best of 5): the last set of either plays to 15, the others to 25. The session is named after the opponent, so it is easy to find again, and the next match against them starts from what you learned in this one.

2. Fill in the starting lineup

A new match opens the Starting lineup sheet. It is laid out like the paper sheet you hand the scorer:

The sheet then offers their six, the other team's jersey numbers in serve order. It is optional, and it is what lets the app say who is receiving and who is serving for them later. If you have played them before, it starts from last time.

3. Answer who serves first

Set 1 asks We serve or They serve, for the coin toss. Later sets suggest the alternation, and the deciding set asks again.

4. Log the rallies

On an iPad held sideways every player's cell carries her own buttons, so a touch is one tap. On a phone or a portrait iPad, tap a player's name on the court and her buttons fill the pad underneath; swipe the pad sideways to walk along the six.

A tap that ends the rally scores it for you: an ace or a kill is our point, any error is theirs. When a point ends without a tap (their attack error, a net call), use +1 Us or +1 Them. Win a point on their serve and the six rotate on their own, the way the court does.

5. Answer the questions you want to

After some taps a small card asks one more thing: who received your serve, how their point was scored, where their kill landed. Every one is optional and takes itself away. If you would rather keep your head up, the session menu has After each point, ask: Everything, How, or Score only.

The answers are what fill the Map (where their kills land, who is hitting them) and the opponent scout (who to serve).

6. Subs and corrections

Use Sub on the court, or drag a player from the bench onto the spot. A sub is one undo step. If the board and the real court disagree, the rotation arrows beside the set chip move the six back or forward, and Correct the score in the set menu fixes the numbers without touching the stats.

7. Between sets

When a set is won the app says so: the score, the sets, who serves next, and Start Set 2 · same six, or Edit lineup to change it. If the last point was a mistake, Undo last point is on the same card.

8. At a timeout

A second phone, iPad or laptop on the same team can switch to Stats or the Map and read the match while you keep tracking. Neither logs anything. At a timeout, look at:

9. After the match

Open the session's menu for the Session recap, an image to share with the team, or Export for AI, the whole match as one file to hand to ChatGPT or Claude with a question like "what should we work on in serve receive?"

Try it before your next match

The sample team has a match ready to tap through, with a lineup, liberos and an opponent. Every step above works on it.
